Mon 27th May – Watford FC

Monday 27th May started off very nicely, it was warm and sunny. Meeting my son and his wife and two grandchildren and some friends we made our way to Rickmansworth station, for the train trip to Wembley to watch Watford FC play in the play off final against Crystal Palace. It was a great atmosphere, with lots of yellow shirts waiting at the station, my grandchildren both with painted faces were excited. Walking up the Wembley Way in amongst the throng was a memorable experience. We sat in our seats with great expectations but to no avail, Watford did not give their exciting usual performance and lost to a late penalty taken by Watford old boy Kevin Philips.
It was a long journey home. Next season will be different. My best two Watford players were Manuel Almunia and Lloyd Doyley.
