Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year Competition. Final Concert – Saturday Evening 6th July 2013Posted: July 7, 2013
St Mary’s Church was the venue for Carol and myself to attend the Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year final. In the last month I must have nearly seen it all at St Mary’s from a superb concert by the Tivoli Cafe Band to Punch and Judy at the vicar’s Jubilee Tea Party. Now, to cap it off, a wonderful selection of young talented musicians, performing in a concert that they all deserved to win. I must admit I am not a knowledgeable person on the finer intricacies of musical accomplishment but I can certainly see talent and there was a lot about last night. Three cellists, two clarinettists, a flautist a pianist and an organist, all played their selections beautifully, a real pleasure. The musicians ages ranged from 14 to 18, such talent and so young. The winner was Amy Naddermier (flute) accompanied by Winnie Wu on piano. The three adjudicators, David Oliver, William Bruce and Gregory Mitchell had a difficult job in picking a winner, and gave interesting comments on each performance. The concert was promoted by The Rotary Club of Rickmansworth and the Three Rivers Music Society and we were well chaperoned by John Spragg President of the Rotary Club, who had a gong nearly as good as mine!!!
