Magna Carta Procession St Albans – Sunday afternoon 4th August 2013Posted: August 4, 2013
Straight from the Skate Jam in Croxley we drove to St Albans arriving in time for the Magna Carta Procession from the Museum up to the Cathedral for a Solemn Evensong with thanksgiving to celebrate the start of the Magna Carta 800 years celebrations. The sun was shining on the robes of the Mayors, Chairs and other civic celebrities attending, some with mace bearers. There were others dressed in suits so I did not feel out of place, Carol was stunning as usual, I am always outclassed by my lovely Lady. The Lord Lieutenant wore a fabulous turquoise hat and matching outfit. The parade slowly made its way to the Cathedral in front of large crowds of onlookers. At 5pm we had high tea in the Abbots kitchen and chatted to the other members of the Hertfordshire Chain Gang, after tea we then processed into the Crossing in the Abbey for the Service.
PS We don’t have robes and mace bearers or chauffeurs in Three Rivers.
Mayor of Broxbourne Bren Perryman, the Magna Carta and me.
