ALTTA Market – Abbots Langley – Saturday morning 7th December 2013

Wendy Ash (Henderson Hub), Peter Warman (ALTTA), me and Ian Bond (ALTTA)

We were invited to attend the ALTTA Market in Henderson Hall Abbots Langley on Saturday morning. ALTTA is a steering group who are aiming to find ways of making Abbots Langley a more sustainable community, through sharing produce, buying locally made or sourced goods, as well as looking at other issues such as energy and sustainable transport, all good ideals to follow. They hold markets three or four times a year and it was a pleasure for us both to be asked to attend and support such a worthwhile cause. We were met by Caroline Whately-Smith who introduced us to many of the stall holders. There were many local associations present and lots of locals with their own produce, a plethora of cooked items, which I was not allowed to savour, and many varied handicrafts. You can see most of the stalls on my photo Flickr site
The Henderson Hall is the centre piece of a new project called The Henderson Hub which aims to transform the underused facility into an essential community hub and arts centre, and it has just received a grant from TRDC of £25,000 towards this ideal. Campaigners hope the hall in the High Street will eventually have a quality performing arts centre and exhibition space.
