All Saints Church Hall – Croxley Green – Sunday morning 22nd December 2013

The Mummers with me and two of my twin Grandchildren, Ellie & Maisie

This morning I was invited by a Giant to watch the first of seven performances touring Croxley Green, of ‘George and the Dragon’ an annual performance, by The Croxley Mummers. They are a group of local residents who have performed this short play, all done in rhyme, for nearly 20 years – now a local tradition. The first performance is in the church hall then moving on to Dickinson Square, then onto the community centre,  finishing naturally in quite a few local pubs. The cast includes St George, The Dragon, a Turkish Knight, a Joker, The Queen of Sheba, the King of Egypt, a Doctor,  a Giant and of course Father Christmas, who distributes sweets to the audience. The purpose of the play is to collect for the Peace Hospice, also one of my nominated charities this year. Since 1994 they have collected over £5,300 for this fantastic cause.  It’s great fun to watch and everyone participates, you can see last years play performed in Dickinson Square here
