Chorleywood Workingmen’s Club – Mill End – Thursday afternoon 23rd January 2014

At 2pm on Thursday I was invited as the Ward Councillor to the ground cutting ceremony, for the Watford Housing Trust development, on the piece of land between the M25 and the houses in Queens Drive. My colleague and fellow Ward Councillor Sarah Nelmes and Cllr Ann Shaw, Leader of the Council, attended.  This is the first housing development by the Watford Community Housing Trust in Three Rivers and now under construction just off Shepherds Lane. Of the total 27 houses there are 12 x 2 bed houses for affordable rent, 14 x three bed houses for social rent and 1 three bed wheelchair accessible house for social rent. There is also a new play area being built with funding from our Better Communities Fund and a landscaping scheme to complement the existing mature trees. The homes are due to handover in December 2014.
After the ceremony we were treated to tea and cakes, provided by ‘Ann of Cakes’ a graduate of the Trusts Pop-Up Business School, in the Chorleywood Working Men’s Club.
