Baptist Church – Rickmansworth – Wednesday afternoon 12th Feb 2014

Three Rivers Music Society invited Carol and me to a lunchtime concert at the Baptist Church in Rickmansworth High Street. This was a rare chance to hear one of Wolfgang Mozart’s great masterpieces ‘Divertimento’ a six movement, 45 minute work of mature gravity, bravura and great beauty.  Steven Halls introduced the programme and David Oliver told us about forthcoming events during the interval.  This is Mozart’s longest work for chamber forces, and because of the demands that it places on the musicians means it is not often performed. The String Trio of David Wood, violin – Anna Maguire, viola and Steven Halls, cello performed magnificently, the Baptist church certainly has good acoustics.  The pre-performance coffee was very welcome on a wet, cold and windy lunchtime.
