Youth Mayor of Stevenage Abasiakara Mboho, Carol, me, Howard Batson, Mayor Stevenage Sherma Batson, Annie Brewster, Howard Morgan, Virginia Morgan and Penny Hearn.
Off to Stevenage this evening, another dose of the M25, it has not been so good lately. We have had a few close shaves, arriving at the last minute, so we leave extra early, 4.30 for an event due to start at 5.45pm. My TomTom calculated 45mins so we allowed 75 mins, in fact we actually arrived exactly on time. The Mayor’s Charity Concert hosted by the Deputy Mayor Sherma Batson, and her husband Howard (the previous Mayor Jack Pickerskill, has stepped down through personal reasons). The concert was billed as an evening of music, song and dance and it certainly fulfilled that title, with young people leading the way. 123 performers and 20 acts which were all excellent, we do have talent in Hertfordshire. Lots of proud parents were in the audience. Prior to the concert we chatted to members of the Chain Gang and enjoyed a light buffet. The concert kicked off with the very talented 15 year old Gabz, who had appeared at the Albert Hall and the Mayor of Hertsmere Civic reception a few weeks ago. There was also a magic performance of the Whitney Houston classic “I will always love you” by Jochebel MacCarthy, who also hopes to become the next Youth Mayor of Stevenage.
