York House School – Croxley Green – Saturday evening 26th April 2014 –Posted: April 28, 2014
The Hertfordshire Chain Gang
This is the night of my Civic Reception when the Council invites charities and unsung heroes to a night of recognition. It is a great honour for Carol and me to be able to thank so many deserving people who take that one little extra step and quietly work to make other people’s lives better. Three Rivers would be a poorer place without them.
It’s also a chance to celebrate Three Rivers 40th anniversary. Three Rivers District Council was established in 1974 by combining the former Urban Districts of Rickmansworth and Chorleywood with part of the Rural District of Watford.
With nearly 120 people attending on 12 tables we were treated to a fantastic meal by the Chef of York House School and his staff. Organised by Richard Kelly everything went very smoothly, the hall was decorated in pink, orange and lime and looked impressive.
After the speeches the evening was rounded of with a performance by the Ricky Players singers, a local organisation who were also celebrating their 70th anniversary. They do have some fine voices, it’s good to see the younger ones performing so well.
Of course the whole event could not have been possible without the dedication and support of Sarah Haythorpe in Democratic Services. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening being amongst so many with whom we have forged firm friendships.
