York House School – Croxley Green Sunday morning 15th June 2014Posted: June 16, 2014
The best puppy competition, won by Thomas Wheeler
Delighted to be returning to York House School after a very pleasant Civic Reception held here in May. This morning they are holding their Fathers Day Summer Fair and Carol and I have been asked to judge various activities and open the fair at 12.00.
The sky was slightly overcast but that did not dampen the spirits of the staff and volunteers who were setting up and organising the events. Arts & Craft competitions, Wacky Races, Children’s Dog Show and Agility Display, Cream Teas, Children’s Fancy Dress Competition, Beer & Pimms Tent, Classic Car Display, Tug of War, Archery, Crockery Smash and plenty of stalls. Not much to do then! Later the sky brightened and at 11.30am we judged all the Arts & Crafts exhibits apart from the cakes which were aptly judged by the York House School Chef Kevin. We had a coffee in the beer tent and at 12 noon I gave a short welcome speech and officially opened the fair. Soon after this I judged the fancy dress and two young members of the famous Red Arrows won. We strolled around the stalls chatting to stallholders until I.00pm when the dog show started with the best puppy competition. It was really nice to see one of our neighbours children, Thomas win with their Cockapoodle of 9 months Hartley. We both had a great time supporting such a fine school on this their first Summer Fair for many years.
